The former RGB Stainless is to use its leading market position in large diameter stainless steel round bar to extend its involvement in the market for small diameter bar.
The former RGB Stainless, now merged with Sandvik Steel and renamed Sandvik Materials Technology UK, is to use its leading market position in large diameter stainless steel round bar to extend its involvement in the market for small diameter bar.
It has, consequently, increased stock levels in the 3 to 75mm size range in standard stainless steel grades 316L, 304L and 303 which enables Sandvik Materials Technology UK to offer a complete range of round bar material sizes.
Aimed specifically at the precision engineering, turned parts and machining market sectors, the extended range is offered with Sandvik Materials Technology UK's full distributor services including supply in random lengths, cut pieces or cut-to-length and delivered nationally on next day delivery.
Says Managing Director Peter Rose: "We have a strong reputation in the market for handling large volume bar contracts in the sizes over 75mm, on scheduled delivery, where required.
We now plan to provide this expertise to the smaller diameter bar market".
In the larger bar diameters, Sandvik Materials Technology UK draws on the stocks and manufacturing capabilities of its mills in Sweden.
In addition to the standard stainless grades, therefore, specials steels can be supplied such as Sanmac Improved Machinability, titanium stabilised 316Ti, duplex stainless steels SAF 2205 and SAF 2507 and the highly corrosion resistant Sanicro 28.
Stainless steel billets for forging are also available.
Completing its product range, Sandvik Materials Technology UK also supplies shaped bar in the form of equal angles, flats, squares and hexagons - all in the standard 316L and 304L grades.
