Expansion for stainless-steel bar stock
The former RGB Stainless is to use its leading market position in large diameter stainless steel round bar to extend its involvement in the market for small diameter bar.
Since then, the new company has been able to offer customers the benefits of a larger organisation including a much broader product offering.
The new warehouse facility means that overall service levels have been improved by giving customers immediate access to an increased inventory - over GBP 4 million stock of tube, pipe, fittings, flanges, bar and box section in a range of stainless steel grades.
Next day delivery, for orders received before 1600 BST, can be guaranteed.
The new facility represents more than 20% increase in warehousing space and incorporates new high density, storage together with new forklift trucks and access equipment for narrow aisle racking.
To cope with increased demand for cut pieces of bar and hollow bar, investment has also been made in new automated, sawing and finishing equipment, including a sawing capability, for diameters up to 610mm.
As a result of the increased capacity Sandvik now has a 24 hour cutting capability and is able to offer large batch runs on short lead times.
Says Managing Director Peter Rose: "With the new warehouse up and running and our new service organisation in place, we are set to take advantage of any upturn in the market.
To that end, our ongoing objective is to provide customers with a streamlined sales organisation, maximise the facilities of the new warehouse and give the best possible level of technical service for an extended product range - delivered by sales teams specialising in the full range of Sandvik products".
