E-nip works on drilled or grooved rolls of either composite, rubber, metal or other roll material The E-nip electronic nip impression system consists of up to seventy-five (75) thin resistive ink sensors, a data interpretation hub, connecting cables and the E-nip software.
The sensors measure nip widths at multiple points along the roll cross direction for a single set of rolls or multiple roll sets (up to three simultaneously).
E-nip software analyzes the data received from the sensors in the nip and displays the measurement values in a variety of graphical formats for easy interpretation.
E-nip differs from other tactile pressure sensors primarily in that it does not attempt to convert electronic signals (resistance) to a pressure level but rather measures the nip width contacting the sensor directly, thereby alleviating a major source of inaccuracy.
Furthermore, E-nip utilizes sophisticated electronics and shielding techniques to eliminate problems from externally generated electromagnetic noise.
Finally, E-nip automatically performs a full calibration before each nip impression session.
Each sensor element is fabricated to micron level tolerances and is individually tested for accuracy and repeatability during the manufacturing process.
