Prof Wilson takes charge at Sheffield

Prof Brett Wilson has recently being appointed as Head of the Electronics and IT division of the School of Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University.

Prof Brett Wilson has recently being appointed as Head of the Electronics and IT division of the School of Engineering at Sheffield Hallam University.

He joins Sheffield Hallam from UMIST, Manchester, where he spent 18 years, culminating as Reader in Communications and Electronics.

He has also held visiting chairs at a number of universities abroad.

Prof Wilson has a broad research and teaching experience.

His research interests include: wideband electronic circuits and systems, current-mode electronic circuits, optical communications and modulation techniques.

He will also head the Electronics Research Group whose research is focused in three main areas: optical communications - encompassing basic and applied research in optical fibre communication systems, including high-speed optical and optical-wireless networks and novel modulation techniques; sensor technology - focused on sensor technologies and systems, combining multidisciplinary expertise in physical electronics, optical fibre communications and digital signal processing; and microsystems and machine vision - investigating and developing vision-based techniques for micro-robotic systems and applying modern vision techniques to real world problems.
