Sensor manufacturer SensoPart was awarded this year's Baden-Wurttemberg Dr Rudolf Eberle Prize for the development of an innovative colour sensor.
The prize for innovation, accompanied by the sum of DM 100,000, was presented to the Managing Director of SensoPart, Dr Theodor Wanner, and the five other prize winners, today by the Minister of Trade and Commerce and the deputy leader of the state of Baden-Wurttemberg, Dr Walter Doring.
Whether the products are brown biscuits, pink tablets or yellow labels: colour sensors are indispensable in industry - for example when packing, sorting and testing food or pharmaceutical products.
Despite the wide range of applications, the main requirement of such a sensor is always the same: it must be possible to reliably detect and distinguish between different coloured objects.
When it comes to reliability and flexibility, SensoPart's FT 50C colour sensor has set new standards: * The FT 50C is the first colour sensor in the world to operate with white light: it also detects moving objects at varying distances without difficulty.
* The colours or ranges of colour to be detected can be programmed very easily (Teach-in process).
* The sensor is particularly compact and economical in comparison to conventional colour sensors.
"Thanks to these new features and the excellent price-performance ratio, our colour sensor was able to win over the jury", said Dr Theodor Wanner, Managing Director of SensoPart.

This gives us a particular reason to rejoice over today's prize!" With its share of the prize money, SensoPart will be supporting educational institutions with the aim of attracting students and freshly-qualified youngsters to the rapid growing optical sensor industry.
