Sensor talks to PLCs
Sensopart's ultra compact F20 series sensor with teach in can now talk direct to machine PLCs.
Four versions are available: the reflector based versions FR90 and FR91 as well as the diffuse versions FT90 and FT91.
Precise distance measurement is a needed feature for a variety of automation tasks in production and storage.
Where there is a need for precise positioning of rail-mounted vehicles, lifting units and cranes, cross-transfer units, or the positioning of tools, the FR9x sensors are specifically designed for such applications.
The sensors have a sensing distance of up to 50m (FR91ILA) or 250m (FR90 ILA) (with specified reflector).
The diffuse switch versions are the right choice for applications where a material of just about any kind has to be detected.
The FT9x sensors can detect surfaces ranging from dull black to high-gloss, they are suitable for a variety of applications - for example positioning applications in end-of-arm tooling for the automotive industry, Outer diameter measurement of paper, plastic and metal coils, or for the control of bin locations.
Due to their large measuring range of up to 6m (FT91) or 10m (FT90), the sensors may be positioned at a safe distance outside the process.
Another advantage of this product line is the high sampling rate of 100Hz which ensures a more accurate measurement.
Apart from its high speed, the method of pulsed IR time-of-flight measurement offers a higher beam energy (compared with the usual time-of-flight measurement with red light), which improves measuring range and light-spot quality.
The alignment of the SmartRange Fx9x ILA is made very easy by using the red pilot beam which is clearly visible within the whole measuring range of the sensors.
Furthermore a large assortment of accessories is available, such as: a line-up aid and a fine-adjustment set.
The start-up of the sensor is made convenient with the use of the LC display and three buttons; these are exceptional features in this price range.
Also included with the sensor is an SSI-compatible interface and an RS422 data interface (with open log). There are also fieldbus options available like Profibus and DeviceNet by means of an optional fieldbus plug.
