Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 2, 2001

Peter Lutz, who led the efforts at the University of Stuttgart to develop a new conformance test for the Sercos interface, has been appointed manager of the European Sercos Interface Association (IGS)

Effective May 1, 2001, Peter Lutz, age 34, was appointed manager of the European Sercos Interface Association (IGS).

Lutz was previously department head of control engineering at the Institute for Control Engineering - Machine Tools and Production Plant at Stuttgart University (Germany).

For the past three years, he managed the OSACA Association.

In addition, Lutz led the efforts at the University of Stuttgart to develop a new conformance test for the Sercos interface.

"The Sercos interface has experienced significant international growth in the past three years," says Pekka Paasivaara, President of the IGS.

"Lutz will primarily promote international publicity and technical development in conjunction with the Sercos interface associations in the USA and Asia." The offices of the IGS are being moved from Bonn to Stuttgart by the end of 2001.

In the meantime, both addresses are being used as contact points for members and interested parties, with the engineering center in Stuttgart and management, publicity and exhibitions in Bonn.
