Two new members have joined Sercos N.A, the North American promotional alliance for the Sercos interface.

They are Moog, East Aurora, New York and Robotic Systems Integration, Chicago, Ill.

Moog, is a leading global provider of industrial motion control in both electric and hydraulic applications.

Moog markets high performance brushless servomotors and drives offering the highest dynamics, power density and reliability.

According to Aidan Browne, Senior Software Design Engineer, "Moog will update our DS2000 series servo drives with the Sercos interface.

The DS2000 series drives, ranging from 4 to 42 kW, will provide high flexibility and superior performance for our customers.

We are excited about our new Sercos interface-based drives and believe that membership in Sercos N.A.

shows our enthusiastic support for the Sercos interface standard." Robotic Systems Integration, (RSI) is an integrator and value added reseller of PC-based motion control systems and components.

RSI has proven systems operating throughout the world in a vast array of industries, including packaging, measurement and inspection, robotics, electronics assembly and others.

"Our company is extremely familiar with the Sercos interface," said James Greaves, Chief Technical Officer, "having integrated a multitude of systems with Sercos interface products.

We believe that joining Sercos N.A.

is an excellent opportunity for Robotic Systems Integration to show support for this international standard." According to George Kaufman, President of Automation Intelligence (Duluth, GA), and President of Sercos N.A., "We are proud to welcome these leading companies as members.

This illustrates the continuing growth of the Sercos interface, the only international standard for communication between digital controls and drives." Sercos interface (SErial Real-time COmmunications System) is an international standard for communication between digital controls and drives, actuators and I/O modules, utilizing a high-speed, noise-immune fiber-optic network.

Sercos interface provides the real-time synchronized multi-axis control required for sophisticated, high-speed automated machinery.
