The Centre for Automation and Motion Control of Alexandria Technical College has joined Sercos NA.

The Centre for Automation and Motion Control (CAMC) of Alexandria Technical College in Alexandria, Minnesota has joined Sercos NA, the North American promotional alliance for the Sercos interface standard (IEC61491) for communications between digital controls and drives.

CAMC is the second college to join Sercos NA with an educational membership, and has selected the Sercos interface as the standard for teaching digital motion controls.

The two-year manufacturing engineering technology programme at CAMC features instruction on all basic manufacturing automation and motion control components - pneumatics, PLCs, steppers and servos systems - with a special focus on open standards and advanced technology.

According to George Kaufman, President of Automation Intelligence (Duluth, GA), and President of Sercos NA, "We are pleased to partner with CAMC in teaching the importance and benefits of open standards to the next generation of motion control engineers".
