Severn Glocon, the UK's leading industrial control valve specialist, has won orders for high technology cryogenic valves for installations in the Far East.

Severn Glocon, the UK's leading industrial control valve specialist, has won orders for high technology cryogenic valves for installations in the Far East.

The first order involves aluminium bodied globe valves for a nitrogen gas plant being built in Japan.

Each valve must be manufactured and certified in accordance with the exacting standards of the Japanese High Pressure Gas Control Laws and to comply with these stringent requirements Severn Glocon has created a specific internal design standard for all such valves.

Severn Glocon welders, who are certified to JIS standards for both aluminium and stainless steel, perform all the full penetration fabrication welds which are then radiographed to ensure compliance.

Final acceptance certification involves the use of an independent inspection authority to witness strength and leak testing and verify all test reports.

The 1 and 2 inch diameter valves, which are assembled and tested within a certified clean room and will ultimately operate at a temperature of - 171C and 9.5 bar pressure, have been ordered by Air Products in the UK for installation in a cryogenic nitrogen generator in Japan.

Severn Glocon, a major supplier of warm and cold service globe, butterfly and ultra-high purity valves to the global industrial gas market, has been manufacturing valves to meet this exacting standard for nearly a decade.

In the second order, customised 'extended cold box' valves are being supplied for the Korea Gas Corporation LNG terminal at Inchon.

Fifteen Severn Glocon Series 4000 globe control valves, in 3", 6" and 8" sizes, will control the flow of liquefied natural gas at a temperature of - 162C.

The valves, which have been the subject of extensive Lloyds inspection and testing, are all equipped with anti-cavitation trims, pneumatic actuators, explosionproof positioners and manual override handwheels.

This contract is the latest from Korea Gas Corporation to be awarded to Severn Glocon, who are a leading supplier of control valves to the company.

Severn Glocon's agent in Seoul, Geum Gang E and I Co.

Ltd, will provide local support and technical services.
