Severn Glocon has announced continued success in the Far East with the award of another major order for critical control valve equipment from the state-owned Korea Gas Corporation

Severn Glocon, the UK's leading industrial control valve manufacturer, announces continued success in the Far East with the award of another major order for critical control valve equipment from the state-owned Korea Gas Corporation.

Severn Glocon's latest order is for 70 of its specially designed Series 4000 cryogenic control valves which will be installed at a new Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) receiving terminal being built at Tong-Yong on the coast of South Korea.

The terminal is designed to handle up to six million tonnes of LNG a year, which will be stored, vaporised and transferred into the country's pipeline distribution network at the facility.

The Severn Glocon valves are being supplied in sizes from one to eight inches, pressure rated at ANSI Class 300 through 900.

Most of the valves will control the LNG flow and pressure at temperatures as low as minus 168øC.

For these critically important duties the valves undergo stringent quality assurance and testing procedures, including cryogenic testing at design pressure, for which Severn Glocon's UK factory at Gloucester is comprehensively equipped.

All the valves will be fitted with failsafe pneumatic actuators and explosionproof positioners for operation under remote, centralised computer control.

The LNG terminal at Tong-Yong is the third to be built in recent years in South Korea, following similar facilities at Inchon and Pyongtaek.

As an approved vendor of critical equipment to Korea Gas, Severn Glocon has supplied control valves at all three sites.

Severn Glocon's commitment to building export business in the Far East and Asia has been recently reinforced by the opening of a regional sales office in Japan.

An office in Singapore is also planned to further assist the sale and support of Severn Glocon's products in the area's LNG, oil, gas, petroleum and chemical industries.
