ATEX approved GSM telemetry for LPG

A Sentry Telemetry product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Apr 15, 2005

The SentryGSM2 can be a stand-alone device for a single LPG tank or can act as a data hub and concentrator for multiple tanks, pressure sensors, ultrasonic oil level sensors and gas meters.

In today's uncertain financial climate with fuel prices edging ever higher, there is a real need for better management and tighter control of LPG inventories at bulk storage facilities.

The aim is to quickly and readily identify spare capacity, be that at storage depots or at sites such as metered estates where the inventory is owned by the supply company so that advantage can be taken at times when the spot prices of LPG are low.

To accomplish this objective, it is essential to have accurate and up to date information about inventory levels to hand.

Information for bulk handling and storage with improved transport systems and advancing communication technologies makes it simpler to communicate cost effectively.

With this in mind Sentry Telemetry has launched an ATEX approved GSM product that can be connected directly to the storage vessel gauging system.

The SentryGSM2 can be a stand-alone device where it can be mounted to a single tank or can act as a data hub and concentrator for multiple tanks, pressure sensors, ultrasonic oil level sensors and gas meters.

Information about tank levels etc are collected and forwarded via GPRS or SMS messaging system to suppliers computer systems or to the Sentry web-hosted data service where secure data can be collected from anywhere over the Internet.

Should GSM network signals not be available then data transport is not limited to the GSM network - Sentry offers PSTN and satellite data systems as well.

Data capture is an essential tool for modern management, and the affordable SentryGSM2 product is within everyone's budget.

This product is used by companies within the UK, Ireland, Benelux, France, Germany, Scandinavia and several Mediterranean countries.

In 2004, Sentry opened its Sentry Mediterranean office near Milan to support sales to Southern European countries.

The need to identify storage capacity and to improve the management of storage facilities is proven and with modern cost-effective communication techniques it is now possible to have accurate data readily available for rapid decision making.
