SMC Corporation of America has opened a new clean room manufacturing facility at its Tustin, California facility.

The 132m2 clean room is built to class 10,000 specifications, with class 100 laminar airflow benches as work area for assembling the high purity products for semiconductor and medical applications.

Before going to assembly, the parts are cleaned at ultrasonic component wash station in the clean room.

After assembly the products are tested for their performance before clean room packing using a vacuum sealer.

To maintain the cleanliness of the room, SMC measures the air particles on a daily basis by use of particle counter located at various points in the room, including inside work bench, front of ducts, at air shower door, along the walls and centre of the room.

Air exchange is accomplished by use of HEPA (high efficiency particulate air) filters.

This clean room enables SMC for local kitting of high purity fittings, valves and valve manifolds for quick delivery to the demanding customers of semiconductor and medical industry.
