Metal fatigue course points out common pitfalls
Safe Technology's Modern Metal Fatigue Analysis course is aimed design and test engineers responsible for product durability in the ground vehicle, aerospace and manufacturing industries.
Safe Technology is offering a three- day course in modern metal fatigue analysis hosted by Namtec (National Metals Technology Centre) in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, 23rd - 25th April, 2008.
This course gives an introduction to modern theories of metal fatigue and their practical application.
There is an emphasis on what is possible and the pitfalls to avoid.
The course will be of interest to design and test engineers responsible for product durability in the ground vehicle, aerospace and manufacturing industries.
No previous knowledge of fatigue is necessary.
A professional volume of course notes forms a self-contained reference book for all attendees.
The course will be presented by Professor John Draper, author of Modern Metal Fatigue Analysis.
John Draper worked as a Fatigue Design Specialist in the aircraft industry, then as a Project Manager in British Rail R and D Division for fatigue research projects and failure investigation projects using service strain measurement.
He acts as a consultant to companies in a wide range of industries, including ground vehicles, medical equipment, diesel engines, wind energy and welded fabrications.
He is a regularly invited presenter at conferences in the UK, Europe, Asia and the USA.
He is Chairman of Safe Technology Limited, past Chairman of the Engineering Integrity Society and the Ground Vehicle Instrumentation Group and an honourary Visiting Professor to Sheffield Hallam University.
