Grease performs under extreme conditions
A new grade of grease is designed for those "mission impossible" applications that exhibit extremes of temperature and pressure.
In response to customer feedback, Sovereign Lubricants and Seals, which sells the Omega range of quality lubricants in the UK, has launched a new grade of grease for those "mission impossible" applications that exhibit extremes of temperature and pressure Says Steve Chesters, owner of SLS: "Only the other day we were contacted by one of our customers who manufacture wafers for the food industry: a typical wafer oven is working above 200C continuously and the customer was replacing bearings frequently due to the existing grease not lasting, resulting in bearing failure on a weekly basis"
"We knew immediately that Omega 26 would solve this problem because it has been formulated especially for this type of application".
"It was only launched a few months ago but already we have found numerous applications where it has shown immediate improvements and benefits for our customers".
Chesters adds: "We operate in a specialist market, our customers are ones that operate 24/7 and do not want expensive breakdowns (where 1 hour's lost production can cost thousands of pounds), with Omega lubricants we have proved time and time again that a quality grease or oil can reduce wear and tear on machinery and will reduce breakdowns, increase production and ultimately make our customers more profitable".
Under normal circumstances a grease would be expected to perform under high loads or high temperatures, usually not both at the same time.
Omega 26 is formulated from the very finest perfluorinated polyether base fluids combined with PTFE thickeners for use in extreme-temperature conditions.
Due to its excellent oxidative and thermal stability and high viscosity index, Omega 26 performs equally well from -25 to +280C.
It is designed for lubricating equipment and machinery that is operating continuously under high temperature and high load conditions.
It provides excellent protection against wear and outstanding resistance to water and most aggressive chemicals.
Omega 26 offers lubrication professionals a durable lubricant that may last forever.
As a type of PFPE grease it will not decompose into carbon residues and soot and its thickener will provide additional lubricity.
As a result it will not potentially damage the equipment it is applied to even if its base fluid breaks down.
In addition, volatility and vaporisation pressure of PFPE is low.
Omega 26 is nontoxic and does not contain mineral hydrocarbon, animal derived materials, nut oils or genetically modified ingredients.
It meets and exceeds the NSF requirement for use in food and drink processing plants.
With its excellent compatibility with plastics and most elastomers, outstanding chemical and physical properties, good resistance to wear, water and chemicals, Omega 26 is suitable for use in almost all industries to lubricate bearings, chains, conveyor systems, valves, small gears and any application involving harsh environments.
The grease is white in colour and is sold in 500g containers, available exclusively from Sovereign Lubricants and Seals.
