A new directly applied 'tape-less' adhesive system developed by Silicone Fabrication Services enables SFS to supply silicone rubber gaskets and fabricated seals, such as joined rings, complete with an adhesive backing for the first time.

Applied to both solid silicone and silicone sponge gaskets without using a tape carrier, this 'revolutionary' adhesive system allows a higher operating temperature range of up to 180C than is possible with a standard tape.

The adhesive is water resistant, permitting its use for IP65/66 rated seals.

It can also be applied to conductive gaskets for shielding applications.

This development cuts production and end-user costs by reducing gasket installation times, without losing the sealing benefits of silicone rubber, to which standard acrylic adhesive tapes will not stick.

These include good temperature stability and resistance to chemicals, ozone and weathering, plus easy pigmentation.

Adhesive-backed silicone rubber gaskets are ideal for a wide variety of uses ranging from exterior lighting, white goods and electronic enclosures to automotive and mass transport applications.
