A SGS SA - Industrial Services product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team May 13, 2009

SGS Industrial Services has carried out the construction supervision of an eight-storey office building in Prague, Czech Republic.

The office building Linzia A is situated in Prague on Evropska Street, close to a natural preserve called Divoka Sarka.

The design of the building is based on a 'wave' shape, complemented by a steel-glazed facade.

The construction of the office building took a little more than a year and was completed by 2008.

The complete construction project included the building itself, the transport connection, the parking area, the connection of utilities such as water and electricity, and landscaping including garden and walkways.

The building meets the highest standard of data and low-voltage cabling, and is equipped with air conditioning, ventilation and a fire alarm system.

Linzia Shelf awarded SGS Industrial Services with the construction supervision of this project.

SGS provided a seven-member supervisor team.

This included a project manager, construction manager, design manager, safety, health, environment and quality (SHEQ) manager, mechanical, electrical, plumbing supervisor (MEP supervisor), financial manager and geotechnical supervisor.

The team mainly dealt with SHEQ management, mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) supervision and financial analysis.

The project was completed in accordance with International Federation of Consulting Engineers (FIDIC) contract conditions as well as local Czech laws and regulations.

Professional supervision of construction works is necessary to ensure that a project undertaken by several parties is implemented successfully in terms of time, quality, safety and costs.

SGS carries out independent, impartial examination, verification, validation and assessment on behalf of clients to ensure that systems and products are designed and constructed according to specification requirements.

With experience gained in hundreds of construction projects around the world and a multi-disciplinary team of experts, SGS is a global provider of value-added services during all phases of a project.

SGS has specialised personnel and control procedures covering the specific necessities of each project, controlling all the project and work development detail and assuring compliance with basic quality requirements and established standards.
