3D tolerance analysis for Catia V5

A Sigmetrix product story

Sigmetrix is to develop and sell a CAA V5-based 3D tolerance analysis solution fully integrated within Catia V5 for the entire product development process.

Dassault Systemes and Sigmetrix have signed a development agreement under which Sigmetrix will develop and sell a Component Architecture Application (CAA) V5-based 3D tolerance analysis solution fully integrated within Catia V5 for the entire product development process.

The agreement makes Sigmetrix a CAA V5 Gold Partner within the Software Community Programme and further reinforces Dassault Systemes' expanded partnership with Sigmetrix parent-company, Rand A Technology, operating as RAND Worldwide, which was announced on 15th April 2002.

The partnership expands the range of 3D product life cycle management (PLM) products.

Hundreds of companies around the world in the aeronautic, automotive, and consumer products industries use Cetol 6 Sigma assembly tolerance analysis and optimisation software to accelerate six sigma initiatives in product development.

As a Gold Partner, Sigmetrix will develop a fully integrated V5 solution called "Cetol Six Sigma CAA V5 Based" that engineers can use to perform mechanical tolerance analysis early in product development within the Catia V5 environment.

Cetol 6 Sigma helps engineers design parts with optimised tolerances so that finished products achieve appropriate quality standards.

By early pinpointing of part tolerances that would cause later problems in manufacturing, the software helps manufacturers avoid expensive production delays, eliminate material scrap, and reduce warranty costs.

Catia Version 5 is the leading three-dimensional product life cycle management (3D PLM) solution for product design, creation, simulation and optimisation.

As part of the Catia V5 portfolio, the 3D functional tolerancing and annotation solution defines and manages tolerance specifications and annotations on 3D parts with dynamic assistance for standards compliance checking.

Integrating Cetol 6 Sigma software for tolerance optimisation into the easy-to-use functionalities of Catia V5 will enable product designers to quickly identify part tolerances that best balance product performance with manufacturing process capabilities in even the most complex assemblies.

The result will be products that fulfil the demanding quality and cost requirements typical of manufacturing today.

"Our partnership with Dassault Systemes will allow us to respond to customers who are implementing six sigma quality practices and who require a fully integrated Catia V5 solution", said Tim Bogard, president and CEO of Sigmetrix.

"Many of these customers are in the aerospace and automotive industries, and they are aggressively pursuing quality as a competitive advantage.

The advanced integration tools offered in the CAAV5 environment will allow Sigmetrix to provide users with easy to use yet powerful tools for analysing producibility during design, leading to more cost-effective product development".

"Our expanded alliance with Rand and now, welcoming its Sigmetrix division, truly makes this partnership global", said Dominique Florack, executive vice president, Dassault Systemes.

"This new V5 integrated solution in the variation analysis domain again supports our premier objective of offering the most comprehensive 3D PLM product portfolio to our customers in all industries".

Dassault Systemes is the premier global 3D PLM solutions provider.

3D PLM enables customers to optimise their business processes for engineering, manufacturing, maintenance and support, using collaborative workspaces to share a common product, process and resource model (PPR).

With PPR, companies can capture, share and reuse knowledge all along the product lifecycle.

The open CAA V5 (Component Application Architecture) allows extension and integration of this solution within multiple enterprise environments.
