Sarnatech BNL has invested in an additional moulding machine to help manage a major new contract it has won with a large American tier one automotive supplier.

The increased capacity will enable Sarnatech BNL to carry out the moulding of a suite of custom designed plastic bearings for four different automotive components - a fifth is currently under development and is scheduled to enter production during the middle of 2004.

The bearings have been developed by Sarnatech BNL's experienced in-house design and development teams in close collaboration with the customer over many months.

The machine - a 90t Engel Victory 330/90 Tech - joins two further Engel machines that were installed at the company's Knaresborough plant earlier in the summer.

It has full process monitoring in order to meet the stringent quality standards set for suppliers to the automotive industry, including automated reject for parts produced from a non-conforming process to guarantee the supply of a 100% right first time product.

Of the on-going investment at Sarnatech BNL, Managing Director, Neil Partlett, said: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with one of the world's most important first tier automotive suppliers which confirms Sarnatech BNL's commitment to the sector.

The company is embracing the challenges that come with supplying the automotive sector and further significant investment sees the development of a new web-based EDI link up with the customer and the imminent arrival of a customised automated assembly cell which has been designed to deal solely with these new automotive parts".
