A Shell Lubricants product story

At an independent bakery in Berkshire, Shell UK Oil Products' food grade lubricants have stopped the irritating squeaks from hundreds of wheels on the bakery's mobile racks

Shell UK Oil Products can justifiably claim to play its part keeping the wheels of British industry turning, but at an independent bakery in Berkshire, the company's food grade lubricants have also stopped the irritating squeaks from hundreds of wheels on the bakery's mobile racks! A spokesman for WR and SV Hussey of Ashford Hill says squeaking wheels are a big issue in bakeries everywhere.

"We operate hundreds of racks in the bakery and they do create a real noise problem if they aren't oiled.

And if they aren't properly serviced they are also more difficult to move around the site." He says.

The bakery, which operates nine ovens, two roll plants, five large mixers, a number of smaller confectionery mixers and three flow wraps, takes food safety very seriously and uses Shell Cassida food grade lubricants in all its process equipment.

Shell Cassida GLE 220 is used to lubricate the rack wheels and machines where grease nipples are fitted, and Shell Cassida RLS2 aerosols are used for components such as chain drives.

"Using Shell food grade lubricants is very reassuring," concludes the spokesman: "and when it is used to oil the rack wheels it also guarantees us a quiet life!".
