Building on the successful introduction of its "Metalworking oils seminar" in Scandinavia, Shell Metalworking Europe has launched the training programme across Europe, to ensure that metalworking companies get 'best value' from their lubricant products.

The "Metalworking oils seminar" is designed to accommodate both a technical and nontechnical audience, providing information on lubricant safety, monitoring, implementation and performance, giving companies the basics for operating metalworking machinery and an overview of the different fluids used within a factory.

The one-day seminar includes an introduction to Shell Metalworking Europe, outlining basic metalworking concepts and issues, training in metalworking processes, high-speed machining and lubricants, service contracts, trouble shooting, research and development trends, central systems and an overview of water usage.

Anders Hultgren, Research and Development Manager at Shell Metalworking Europe comments: "The metalworking oils seminar is the first level of a proposed advanced European training programme that will give metalworking organisations the key tools and knowledge to maximise productivity and efficiency within their plant".

Metalworking processes features a comprehensive overview of all removal and non-removal fluids and how they should be efficiently applied in achieving improved surface finishes and higher tolerances.

The session features a broad range of metals including aluminium, steel, titanium alloys and yellow metals, all supported with coolant case histories.

High speed machining focuses on equipment and product performance, spray lubes and minimal lubrication applications.

Service contracts outlines the positives and negatives of service agreements, and also presents Shell's capabilities as a global supplier of solutions, supported with best practice case studies.

Trouble shooting gives delegates an opportunity to engage with Shell experts in solving every day metalworking problems.

Research and development trends covers amine and boron free products, multifunctional fluids and 'green' products.

Central systems focuses on issues concerning types of system and the economy.

Water usage looks at the differences in tap water and demineralised water, ion exchange versus reversed osmosis and related metalworking performance.

Anders Hultgren concludes: "The training programme encompasses the essentials of lubricant management in the metalworking industry, equipping engineers with an in-depth and full understanding of fluids within metalworking applications.

The programme is an integral part of Shell Metalworking Europe's extensive service offering, dedicated to providing metalworking companies with full industry support".
