Shell releases energy-saving lubricant

A Shell Lubricants product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Sep 18, 2008

Shell Lubricants has added Shell Tellus EE energy-saving lubricant to its Shell Tellus hydraulic oil range.

Formulated in response to rising energy prices, it reduces the energy consumption of hydraulic machinery by up to 8 per cent.

The lubricant's viscosity is neither too high, so that extra energy is required to move parts, or too low, so that parts come into contact, leading to excessive wear and the resulting component replacement and downtime costs.

It also retains an optimal density to help transmit rather than absorb power.

In addition, it benefits from low friction properties through careful base oil and additive formulation.
