Shell Lubricants saves Sapphire Power money

A Shell Lubricants product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Jul 15, 2009

Pakistan's Sapphire Power has saved USD5,000 (GBP3,066) in maintenance and operation costs by switching to Shell Mysella LA gas engine oil and using Shell Lubeanalyst's technical support.

A lubricant from a different supplier that Sapphire Power had used previously led to problems such as turbocharger and air-cooler failure.

Abnormal wear metals were also reported.

To address these issues, Shell Lubricants offered the company technical support - including joint inspections and efficient oil-condition monitoring from the Shell Lubeanalyst service.

Following the reports, the team recommended the switch to Shell Mysella LA, an ash-free lubricating oil designed for use in spark-ignition engines requiring a lubricant with low ash-content.

Muhammad Zahid, front line technical specialist at Shell Lubricants, said: 'By assessing the needs of Sapphire Power, we were able to offer the company the best possible lubrication solution for its requirements.

'The introduction of Shell Mysella LA has enabled the company to avoid unplanned maintenance and achieve reliable performance for its operations.'.
