The Schmersal LSS 300 laser scanner is a flexible and powerful safety device that is designed to continuously scan a 180deg detection zone up to a maximum radius of 60 meters using a beam that is absolutely safe and harmless to the operator Whilst the area around manufacturing robots, automated handling machines and machine tools will always be a potential threat to operator safety, access to the various zones cannot always be categorised as simply 'allowed' or 'disallowed'

Safety interlock switch can never be bypassed
Schmersal (UK) have introduced a new range of safety interlock switches that are activated by an individually-coded, geometrically-unique, actuating key with 15,000 different combinations.
Light barriers take on space limitations
Schmersal (UK) Ltd, specialists in man-machine safety systems, have introduced the SLC400 range of optoelectronic safety light grid barriers and curtains, designed to guard plant and machinery
The LSS300 provides a safety solution that can accommodate such variables.
The latest user-friendly software enables the LSS300 to simultaneously monitor up to two danger zones, each with its own configurable warning and protection areas.
For maximum operational flexibility, safety zones and warning zones can be user-defined.
Machine motion is immediately stopped when a person or object enters a safety zone.
However, when an operator enters a warning zone the LSS 300 issues a warning signal to prevent unintentional machine stops.
If the operator does not react to the warning, the machine is automatically stopped.
To allow faster commissioning, maintenance and swap-out, the LSS 300 also features a relocatable module that will store the system configuration and duplicate configuration data to enable a replacement scanner to be configured without the use of a PC.
The LSS 300 can also be used to detect objects or as the sensor for automatic transport systems.
It is supplied with all necessary safety certification.
