Machine safety specialist Schmersal UK is offering engineers a comprehensive manual covering all aspects of solenoid door locking.

Machine safety specialist Schmersal UK is offering engineers a comprehensive manual covering all aspects of solenoid door locking, including safety standards, typical applications, selection of appropriate handles, interlock switches, safety monitors and control modules, and fitting tips and wiring diagrams.

The manual also previews Schmersal's modular door-guard locking system and a number of new products.

These include a battery-operated release to allow spring-to-lock solenoid interlocks to be operated in a power-off or failure condition and an emergency exit release that allows intentional opening of a safety guard from inside in cases where, for example, personnel are trapped in a hazardous area.

Among other innovations are actuators designed for small actuating radii and door handles with an integral open/close button to allow convenient individual guard unlocking.
