To safeguard operators from walk-in hazardous areas, Schmersal has introduced what it claims is the most versatile safety door handle system available.

To safeguard operators from walk-in hazardous areas, Schmersal has introduced what it claims is the most versatile safety door handle system available.

The new STS range offers six different switches, each with eight different mounting combinations, which are suitable for all types of safety guards - including Schmersal's recently introduced Satech perimeter guard system.

The STS includes safety switches and solenoid interlocks that can be mounted on the inside or outside of machine guards to allow quick and easy access or exit from a hazardous area in an emergency.

The system, which incorporates Schmersal's proven range of safety switches and solenoid interlocks can, for example, be combined with a latching door handle to allow design engineers to dispense with separate door handles.

The STS is an extremely versatile system that can be extended to enhance the level of safety as well as the productivity of the machine.

As an option, the safety door handle system can be supplied with an emergency handle for opening a safety guard door from inside a hazardous area.

This is an important feature for applications where operators can be shut into the area and, in an emergency, must leave quickly.

Other options include a centring device that not only serves as a doorstop, but also ensures that the actuator will always be inserted into the safety switch.
