Toshiba extends safety certification

Sira has entered into an agreement with Toshiba Corp's Industrial and Power Systems and Services Company in Tokyo that will extend Sira's IEC61508 certification capability into the Far East.
Sira has entered into an agreement with Toshiba Corp's Industrial and Power Systems and Services Company in Tokyo that will extend Sira's IEC61508 certification capability into the Far East Under the terms of this agreement, Toshiba will act as Sira's business associate, carrying out assessments of clients and their products for compliance with the requirements of IEC61508 on Sira's behalf, initially in Japan, Korea, China and Taiwan

IEC61508 is the international standard for the functional safety of electrical, electronic and programmable electronic safety-related systems.
It is a generic life-cycle document, and is used as the basis for industry sector-specific safety standards, such as IEC61511 for safety instrumented systems in the process industry.
