Industrial locking systems manufacturer and supplier Camlock Systems has acquired long-established competitor Sidlock, which has been a major player in the UK industrial lock sector since the 50s

Camlock Systems has consolidated its position as one of the World's leading designers, manufacturers and suppliers of industrial locking systems by acquiring long-established competitor Sidlock.

Lock manufacturer and distributor Sidlock, a division of Dzus fasteners which is part of the McKechnie group, has been a major player in the UK industrial lock sector since the 1950's.

Camlock Systems' chairman Ray Carroll said the acquisition would give Camlock "even more muscle" at a time when the company is rapidly expanding in security products markets both at home and overseas.

"Sidlock is a highly respected company whose products and markets ideally complement our own.

Combining the two operations will benefit all our customers who will enjoy unrivalled expertise, service and an enhanced product range.

"The World has never needed to be more security conscious.

Strengthened by this acquisition, Camlock Systems can vigorously pursue its development programme to meet an ever-increasing demand for sophisticated security solutions." Mr.Carroll said he did not rule out the possibility of further acquisitions.

"We will continue to take an active interest in growth opportunities," he said.

Camlock Systems is one of the longest established companies in its sector with a pedigree stretching back to 1918.

Its products, including its patented Octagon lock which won Millennium Product status from the Design Council, are used by industry worldwide to protect a wide range of equipment from vending machines to computers, amusement machines and high security vehicle security devices.
