Camlock Systems has launched the first product in a family of "next generation" locks called Camactive.

Camlock Systems, one of the world's leading designers, manufacturers and suppliers of industrial locks and locking systems, has launched the first product in a family of "next generation" locks called Camactive The new locks are doubly resistant to the misuse of keys and to picking, thanks to their dual locking functionality

Security is constantly changing and as criminals develop new techniques, manufacturers have to invest heavily in product development to stay one step ahead of them.

This means locking products that may have been cutting edge when first purchased can now be inadequate to meet today's demand for enhanced levels of security protection.

With this in mind, Camlock has developed its new Camactive lock to combine the benefits of their renowned Octagon locks with an extra level of electrical locking security.

Simple to operate, cost effective and easily retrofitted, the lock uses radial pin tumblers for its mechanical locking, with a range of options including key pads, iButtons, swipe cards or biometric devices to operate the electrical locking element.

Depending on customers' requirements, Camlock's Camactive will be available with a wide range of locking mechanisms.

To prevent the possibility of duplicate keys being used, the Octagon lock and key system is patented.

Key blanks for Octagon locks are never issued; keys for keyed-alike or reprogrammable locks can be registered to the customer and are then only ever made available by Camlock to authorised signatories.

Using an appropriate key pad, iButton, biometric technology, swipe cards or a similar device, activates a specially designed component in the lock.

When this has been released, the correct key can then be inserted allowing the lock to open.

When locked electrically, the new lock cannot be opened using a key, until released.

The double locking mechanism provides greatly enhanced protection against the use of unauthorised duplicate keys, the misuse of authorised keys and lock picks, which are now easily available to anyone via the Internet.

Stephen Farnsworth, Managing Director of Camlock Systems, said: "We're very excited about this new product and believe it has tremendous potential".

"Camactive offers all the advantages of our highly regarded Octagon range, with the added benefits of dual locking, to provide a customised lock tailored to the specific security application required".
