Camlock's series 28 Octagon products are constructed for maximum reliability and durability, as well as security.
Fujitsu has designed and installed IT equipment in naval ships and submarines and selected Camlock Systems to satisfy its lock requirements.
When a navy specifies PCs, servers, printers and network equipment to be fitted onboard a ship, full account has to be taken of the environment.
The demanding requirements include excellent reliability, a much smaller size than typical commercial computers, rugged mountings, ease of upgrading components, excellent resistance to interference and fast installation when the ship is in dock, as well as achieving the best value for money.
Fujitsu designed and built the PCs using normal commercial components but packaged to make them much smaller and significantly better suited to the demanding naval environment than widely available branded PCs.
The size of the special Fujitsu PCs is little more than that of a set top box.
The PCs have been fitted in Royal Navy vessels, from aircraft carriers and submarines to mine hunters and Royal Fleet Auxiliaries, to provide an information systems infrastructure capable of supporting administrative services onboard.
The Royal Navy of the Netherlands has also specified Fujitsu products.
Camlock worked closely with Fujitsu to supply a lock system that would both meet the demands of the onboard environment and provide a high level of security.
