New guidelines for variable speed drives + motors
While the connection between motor and inverter supply is usually straightforward, there are still a number of issues which need to be carefully considered, as this article explains
Upgrading the control system to a Siemens Logo 24RCL took just eight hours and has provided a faultless service.
The Logo! 24RCL is a flexible, easy to programme, low cost control unit.
It replaces the set of five MY4 type relays used initially, which had proved unreliable - the high vibration and shock loading combined caused them to fail after just 80,000 operations.
The Siemens Logo! unit controls the traversing circular saw at the end of the machine, which cuts the pencils to 180 mm lengths, ready for printing and sharpening.
Choosing the Logo! module removes the need for separate components.
All the necessary control functions are provided in one unit.
So Logo! saves space, time and money.
By simply selecting the required function by pressing a key, it is ready for use.
The Logo! 24RCL is shorter than two standard size modules but has twice as many possibilities, with eight outputs and 12 inputs.
"The Logo system was recommended by our contract electrician who had used them in other systems before," commented Tim Weaver, Operations Manager at Remarkable Pencils.
"We have developed a unique and highly innovative process for converting recycling used vending cups into quality pencils and pens.
The Logo 24RCL is an integral part of that process".
