New guidelines for variable speed drives + motors
While the connection between motor and inverter supply is usually straightforward, there are still a number of issues which need to be carefully considered, as this article explains
The rack PC is also equipped with seven free slots for PC cards as well as four slots for front-panel drives and two slots for internal drives.
In addition to the standard PC interfaces, a 10/100Mbit/s Ethernet interface has also been integrated.
This interface is used mainly for performing tasks with high computing overhead in industrial image processing and quality assurance as well as in instrumentation and control.
For fail-safe operation, the new Simatic rack PC provides monitoring functions for internal temperature, fan and program execution.
LED indicators on the PC's front panel show the operational status.
High-quality components with excellent MTFB (mean time between failures) values, such as a temperature-controlled fan in the power supply unit, make around-the-clock operation possible.
A front access door with lock protects against unauthorised access to drives for removable media and operating elements on the front of the unit.
The new Simatic PC family member is exceptionally service-friendly.
Only three screws are required to close the unit, enabling quick insertion and removal of PC components.
The hinged front panel simplifies access to the motherboard and installation of the front-panel drives.
The two USB 2.0 high-speed interfaces on the front of the PC enable fast, easy connection of external USB devices for data backup, such as hard disk drives or removable media.
The PC features powerful AGP (advanced graphics processor) onboard graphics with dynamic video memory technology.
Each additional AGP 4x graphics card can be used to operate two monitors simultaneously.
