New guidelines for variable speed drives + motors
While the connection between motor and inverter supply is usually straightforward, there are still a number of issues which need to be carefully considered, as this article explains
The impetus for this "global skeleton supply and service agreement" came from the fine results of extensive testing of the Sitrans P DS III digital pressure transmitter which has been in use at Bayer as a standard field device since November 2001.
Another factor in Bayer's decision to go with Siemens - aside from the technical quality of the product - was the global presence and worldwide support offered by Siemens, especially in Asian markets.
The contract supports Bayer's push towards standardisation of their plant equipment.
In addition to Bayer Polymers, the other three divisions of the Bayer Group - Chemicals, Healthcare and Crop Science - can also take advantage of the contract.
The Sitrans P DS III pressure transmitter is now the third generation of the Sitrans device family for measuring absolute pressure, pressure difference, fill level and flow rate.
Since their launch in 1993, the Sitrans-P pressure transmitters have been continuously developed in cooperation with the chemicals industry.
For example, the devices come equipped with diagnostic functions developed in co-operation with Namur, the standardisation association for measurement and control technology in the chemicals industry.
