Control unit's CPUs now 40% faster than
before

The CPUs 221 and 222 for the Simatic S7-200 miniature control units from Siemens Automation and Drives are now 40 per cent faster than before, with a command time of 0.2 microseconds per bit.

As a result, the user only has to change the type of CPU whenever requirements change.

The new CPUs are claimed to be well suited for use as 'substations' in telecontrol applications or for small production machines with recipes that have to be processed flexibly.

Several recipes can be parameterised in advance and then loaded when required from the Simatic memory cartridge, for example.

In these cartridges, data with a time stamp can be recorded chronologically, recipes can be managed and project documents can be stored.

Several functions have been added to the MicroWin V4.0 software - for example PID Autotune, Trendchart, Super-Tree, Datalog Wizard and Recipe Wizard: Trendchart shows the progression over time of previously defined parameters on the PC; with the help of PID Autotune, the user can configure control functions and monitor them during operation said Siemens.
