At just 102mm wide, the new 40A Sitop DC uninterruptible power supply (UPS) from Siemens Automation and Drives is one third the width of its predecessor.

At just 102mm wide, the new 40A Sitop DC uninterruptible power supply (UPS) from Siemens Automation and Drives (A and D) is one third the width of its predecessor In the event of failure of the AC mains supply to a switch mode DC power supply, or a failure of the PSU itself, the DIN rail mounted DC UPS module switches over to the 24V battery backup without any interruption to the load

This uninterrupted switching prevents downtime or crashes of critical parts of a system, and can also allow safe shutdown of DC powered Industrial PC systems, without loss of data.

Siemens now offers a range of compact uninterruptible Sitop power supplies, with 6, 15 and 40A current capability.

The DC UPS modules feature a battery management system, which optimises the load of the connected batteries, monitors their reserves, charge status and ageing characteristic.

The UPS status can also be visualised on a PC by means of the optional downloadable DC UPS software.

Another new addition to the DC UPS product family is a 1.2Ah battery, for lower power requirements, such as with the 6A UPS module.

All the signals and messages indicating the operating status of the Sitop power modules, can be output via volt-free contacts, or by the optional USB port.

The software tool is used to further analyse the data on an IPC.

The selectable switch-off feature of the DC UPS module permits automatic warm restart of industrial PCs.
