The Simatic S7-400 can now communicate over Ethernet up to three times faster This makes it possible to solve extensive tasks and co-ordinate complex plants

A memory card with 64Mbyte of RAM is now available for the S7-400 controllers for storing large programs and large volumes of data and for making rapid changes to programs.

The choice of racks has been expanded to include two aluminium versions which are extremely durable even under harsh environmental conditions.

The new communication functions for the entire line of S7-400 standard CPUs will be available on the Internet free of charge as firmware version 4.1 from July 2005 onwards.

Communications processor CP 443-1 Advanced, firmware version V2.2 or higher, is required for high-speed Ethernet communication.

The new 64Mbyte memory card stores the entire contents of main memory, including that of the highest-capacity Simatic S7-400 CPU.

This RAM store is particularly advantageous at the commissioning phase, when the user program is often modified.

A RAM card stores data considerably faster than a conventional EPROM version and there is also no limit on the number of write cycles.

Two aluminium versions with nine slots for standard systems and two times nine slots for high-availability systems expand the choice of racks for Simatic S7-400 controllers.
