Power supplies feature compact design
Sitop Smart power supply units for single-phase 120/230V power systems feature an extremely compact design, and are approximately one third narrower than previous models.
Sitop Smart, the new range of power supply units from Siemens Automation and Drives (A and D) for single-phase 120/230V power systems, has an extremely compact design, and is approximately one third narrower than previous models Used for industrial, residential and nonresidential buildings, these closed-loop-controlled 24V DC power supply units are available with 2.5, 5 and 10A current output, and measure, 33, 50 and 79mm wide, respectively

New guidelines for variable speed drives + motors
While the connection between motor and inverter supply is usually straightforward, there are still a number of issues which need to be carefully considered, as this article explains
The overload behaviour has also been considerably improved, allowing high current inrush loads such as DC/DC transformers and motors to be switched on without problem.
An additional feature of the new units is that they are able to supply 120% of rated power continuously - even at ambient temperatures up to 45C.
The output voltage can also be increased to 28V, by the front accessible adjustment potentiometer.
The 2.5A power supply unit is a universal solution, whereas the 5 and 10A units are available in two versions.
There is the regular industrial type, and for residential and nonresidential buildings, there is a power factor correction, (PFC), version, which complies with the legal requirements for connection to public grids.
All the new power supply units have been extensively certified.
Certifications include: UL and cUL certification for the North American market, as well as GL (German Lloyd) certification for use in shipbuilding.
The units also comply with the ATEX Directive, and thereby can be used for applications in areas where there is a danger of explosion.
The Sitop Smart power supplies are fully compatible with the diode redundancy and buffer modules, and also with the DC UPS and battery modules, to provide an uninterruptible power supply.
In order to protect individual 24V circuits, the Sitop Select Diagnostic module also provides an easily configured, discrete four channel overload current and short-circuit protection solution.
