New guidelines for variable speed drives + motors
While the connection between motor and inverter supply is usually straightforward, there are still a number of issues which need to be carefully considered, as this article explains
Under the agreement, they will be marketed worldwide by the two companies.
The Ertec 200 and 400 Ethernet controllers for automation applications support the Profinet protocol, enabling isochronous real-time communications and data transmission rates up to 100Mbit/s.
The devices include an Arm 9 processor and are based on sensitive power requirements.
The Ertec 400 has an integrated four-port switch tailored to the power requirements of motion control systems while the Ertec 200 is a low-cost controller with integrated two-port switch for drives or comparable products, enabling the line cabling of field devices normally used on Fieldbus to be used in Ethernet networks.
They allow control for up to 150 axes at a cycle time of 1ms, with 6Mbyte/s of simultaneously transferable standard TCP/IP data.
Profinet can be integrated with other Fieldbus products through proxies.
NEC Electronics expects to achieve sales of the order of five billion yen by 2010.
In Europe, samples of the Ertec 400 are available now and samples of the Ertec 200 will be available in the second quarter of 2006.
Development kits for the products will also be available.
Availability in other regions will follow in the fourth quarter.
