New guidelines for variable speed drives + motors
While the connection between motor and inverter supply is usually straightforward, there are still a number of issues which need to be carefully considered, as this article explains
The unit also protects access and supply areas.
The Profisafe interface enables comprehensive diagnostics via Profibus and automation parameter matching.
With a data transmission rate of up to 12Mbit/s, secure cyclical as well as acyclical data traffic via Profibus DP is supported.
This means that fast safety-relevant real-time data, as well as extensive diagnostics data, can be exchanged with the programmable logic controller, whilst the self-parameterisation function shortens the downtimes when a device has to be replaced.
There are versions with resolutions of 14, 30 and 50mm and protection field heights of 150 to 3000mm.
The test signal, start/restart inhibit, contactor monitoring, blanking, muting and cycle control functions have already been integrated.
The functions are adapted individually, either by means of six internal switches or via the optical interface of the receiver.
Integration of the system in the automation solution is carried out by means of Step 7 function blocks.
With SIL 3 (safety integrity level) and Category 4 in accordance with EN954-1, Profisafe meets the high safety requirements for the process and manufacturing industry.
