Siemens Automation and Drives has expanded the functionality of its visualisation system Simatic WinCC in the new version 7.0.

Siemens Automation and Drives has expanded the functionality of its visualisation system Simatic WinCC in version 7.0 The universal scalable visualisation system now offers operation in accordance with Windows Vista, easy language switching, high-performance analysis functions and an integrated MS SQL Server archive database

In the standard packages, the Power Tags have been doubled from 256 to 512 and from 1024 to 2048.

New WinCC objects for operable elements, which have been adapted to the Windows Vista design, provide the plant personnel with optical responses about possible or required inputs.

Such elements are, for example, animated GIFs or displays highlighted by hover and glass effects.

Using the hover effect, operable fields change colour when they are touched by the cursor, while the glass effect enables the fields to be displayed semi transparently.

In the alarm and trend display, the controls were completely revised.

A new feature allows the user to create individual buttons and to run the export function from every control.

The user now configures the selections for display of alarms and trends online, according to variably specifiable criteria.

Expansions to the WinCC/WebNavigator option simplify the multitabbing of Internet Explorer V7.0, in which multiple websites can be simultaneously opened.

In addition, the web clients can be started with or without Internet Explorer.

A new text distributor simplifies the handling of different languages.

The editors can be switched online into five European and four Asian languages.

The runtime system is configured in all supported languages.

The language changeover also functions for archived messages, which simplifies the tracking of historical events.
