Siemens offers MES packages for manufacturers

A Siemens Automation and Drives product story
Edited by the Engineeringtalk editorial team Mar 16, 2009

Siemens Industrial Automation has launched a range of off-the-shelf packages to help manufacturers take advantage of manufacturing execution system (MES) solutions quickly and at a lower cost.

Designed to support manufacturers' twin goals of improving productivity and remaining competitive in an increasingly pressurised marketplace, Siemens's MES packages allow discrete manufacturers to select which MES solution best suits their needs.

The MES packages released in the first phase cover a number of options and are based on Siemens Industrial Automation's Simatic IT discrete manufacturing solution library.

This includes Product Assembly, OEE Manufacturing, Defect Management and ERP to Shopfloor, which are all available as off-the-shelf boxed packages.

The packages are suitable for discrete manufacturers of mechanical equipment such as compressors, pumps, burners and gears, as well as offering benefits for companies in the automotive and aerospace manufacturing industries.
