1U chassis has detachable motherboard carrier
A new 1U (44mm high) chassis for 19" rack mounting, the SR-105-ATX-180 from Sight Systems, is designed for space-critical applications such as servers, networks, telephony and E-commerce.
Based on a Papst 8000 series 12VDC fan with external rotor motor, the SR-DC1 Drive Cooler has fully integrated commutation electronics and protection against reverse polarity, blocking and overload by PTC resistor, partially impedance protected.
The fan delivers airflow at about 20 cubic feet per minute and has a service life of 80,000 hours.
The SR-DC1 incorporates an easily cleaned / replaced dust filter accessible from the front panel of the computer system.
Excessive temperature causes more failures than vibration, humidity and dust in industrial computer systems and accounts for 55% of all electronic equipment failure.
Good thermal management at the equipment design stage will help to avoid such failures.
Overheating in computer systems occurs partly due to heat being dissipated in smaller, overcrowded enclosures where airflow is restricted by cards, cabling, disk drives, etc.
