Water keeps deadweight tester clean
SI Pressure Instruments is manufacturing a new enhanced model of its established 9000 series hydraulic deadweight tester range using water as a pressure medium.
Since the launch of the US operation last year, SI has fulfilled orders from major organisations including Boeing, NASA and the US Navy and anticipates a significant increase in business over the next 12 months.
As one of two US Sales Managers, James will utilise his expertise and knowledge to manage existing OEM customers and catalogue operations and provide technical advice to end users.
In addition, he will be helping to launch SI's intrinsically safe PC6 calibrator primarily for the oil and gas industries.

Comprehensive calibration capabilities
SI Pressure Instruments is manufacturing a comprehensive high-accuracy pressure and loop calibrator designed for the test and calibration of process instrumentation.
James recently represented SI at the Offshore Technology Conference 2000 - the world's foremost event for the development of offshore resources in the key fields of drilling, exploration, production and environment protection which took place at the Astrodome in Houston, in early May.
"Our launch into the US marketplace has been exceptionally well received - as the largest and one of the most technologically advanced markets, there is a continual requirement for companies like SI to develop and support high quality, innovative calibration solutions," said James Chandler.
"The opening of the Houston office will help to consolidate and extend our presence in the wider US market whilst the addition of the intrinsically safe calibrator to our product range later this year will enhance our offering to the petrochemicals industry in the southern states." Also among SI's product range is the unique PC6-CCK complete calibration kit which includes the versatile PC6 calibrator head, pneumatic and hydraulic pumps, an external pressure module, pressure relief valve, adaptor kit and captive hose with adaptors in a compact, fully portable aluminium case.
The kit also comes complete with SI's SiCal Windows-based software which facilitates automatic production of calibration certificates, remote control of the PC6 calibrator via attached computer in a fixed, laboratory-based environment, logging, viewing and printing of graphical or tabular data and the direct transfer of data into Excel or Word format.
Other significant developments include the LTP1 - the most sensitive low pressure test pump available - and the HK1-1000, the most stable 1,000 bar, 15,000 psi hose currently on the market.
Following its acquisition of specialist manufacturer, Theta Systems in August 1999, SI also offers a range of hydraulic and pneumatic automated pressure controllers providing calibration solutions up to 2,000 bar, 15,000 psi with accuracies up to 0.005%.
The acquisition has also resulted in a significant extension to SI's NAMAS accredited calibration capabilities.
