Subsea calibration gear supplied to
offshore firm
SI Pressure Instruments has recently supplied five PC6 calibration kits to Datem Services, manufacturers of offshore exploration equipment - including the new Neptune 3000 system
SI Pressure Instruments, one of the world's leading manufacturers of pressure calibration equipment, has recently supplied five PC6 calibration kits to Datem Services - manufacturers of offshore exploration equipment The PC6 kits, part of the SI Pressure Instruments range, provide field calibration checks to ensure the accuracy of the Minicone - an integral part of Datem Services new Neptune 3000 system

Gauge aids complete calibration solution
SI Pressure Instruments is now manufacturing a new portable 4.5-digit display test gauge for general pressure testing and monitoring.
Water keeps deadweight tester clean
SI Pressure Instruments is manufacturing a new enhanced model of its established 9000 series hydraulic deadweight tester range using water as a pressure medium.
This system measures the resistance of the seabed to penetration and gives soil strength characteristics that allow Datem Services' clients to interpret sub-sea soil conditions.
From this they can advise, for example, on burial assessment matters such as the likely maintenance requirements of subsea ploughs used for cable laying in the telecommunications industry.
The PC6 calibration system supplies pressure to the minicone calibration chamber which applies an axial load to the minicone.
The resulting voltage output from the minicone can then be measured against the known accuracy of the PC6.
This allows the on-site team to rapidly evaluate the accuracy of the minicone against its original factory calibration.
Martin Steggar, Commercial Manager at Datem Services explains, "Essentially, the Neptune 3000 system allows rapid determination of subsea soil conditions in real time.
The solution is a lightweight package that can be operated easily by a reduced team from smaller, less expensive survey vessels.
The compact, hand held properties of the PC6 continue this theme and they are ideal for quickly confirming the accuracy of our minicones in the field." Speaking of his satisfaction with the equipment, Martin continues, "The PC6 kits are an integral part of our calibration solution, validating the information we supply to our customers.
The equipment from SI Pressure has allowed us to broaden our capabilities and, with NAMAS accreditation, gave us total assurance when embarking upon this recent expansion of our product range." The PC6 kit is resistant to a wide range of fluid media including water, oil, skydrol and brake fluid.
It is easy to use with the pressure instrument in-situ as it does not require a flat waist high surface to rest upon when taking an accurate reading while the pump is in operation.
A pressure relief valve is easily incorporated into the kit to protect the units under test.
