Process transmitter branched into three products with various levels of features.

Sartorius Hamburg is expanding in the instrumentation of process container scales field by branching out its PR5210 series into three products with various levels of features.

In addition to the version with a serial port and three digital inputs and outputs, there is now a high-resolution and highly accurate version with a choice of 4-20mA analogue output or a high-speed Profibus DP interface as well as the fully-equipped version that has both.

Functions have been added to the PR5210 process transmitter, which has been available since April 2005.

The changes are rugged design and reliability improvements to make it less susceptible to the small mishaps in the field.

There are improved diagnosis capabilities in the measuring circuit, enabling a broken cable or accidentally switched plus and minus poles to be detected, a reliable DC/DC converter, and built-in, permanent reverse pole protection.

Analogue output performance has been improved with high resolution, accurate factory calibration and numerous setting and adjustment options for fine tuning.

A simple serial protocol has been implemented according to the SMA standard for easy connection of the process transmitter through the RS422/485 interface port.

There is the option of encrypted, Weights and Measures approved transmission of weight values through Profibus for legal-for-trade applications.

An improved Windows configuration tool is another change.
