A new hollow pancake stepper motor has a 2.5in hole in the centre for a microwave tube, and is designed for applications where accurate positioning and high torque are desirable characteristics.

Servotechnic has highlighted an example of the technical customisation capabilities of Haydon Switch and Instrument (HSI) to deliver a custom solution to a technical application challenge.

A new hollow pancake stepper motor has a 2.5in hole in the centre for a microwave tube, and is designed for applications where accurate positioning and high torque are desirable characteristics.

This pancake motor has a 1.8-degree step angle and provides up to 2.8Nm of torque.

The motor's outside diameter is 145mm and it is 32mm thick.

The standard configuration includes ball bearings.

Coils are available in bipolar or unipolar configurations and in a wide range of voltages.

Applications include military, heavy duty automation, and any other application that requires precise rotary movement.

In addition to this customised motor, HSI also offers standard pancake rotary motors through UK agent Servotechnic.
