Large motors are ideally suited to applications where slow accurate speed and high torque are essential.

The B99 range of brushless frameless torque motors manufactured by Motion Control Systems are available in the UK from Servotechnic These large motors are ideally suited to applications where slow accurate speed and high torque are essential

Applications which have benefited from their capabilities include telescope drives and machining centre turn tables.

The standard motor in the B99 range offers a large through bore of approximately 870mm with an outside diameter of around 1030mm.

The motor measures from just 103mm deep and is available in customised versions to suit specific demanding applications.

The motors come as standard with thermistor protection embedded into the windings and protective treatments can also be offered to add protection to the windings during installation.

Typical power characteristics are a peak torque of around 20kNm (intermittent duty) and continuous torque of a little under 10kNm up to nearly 8rev/min.

Peak power is achieved at 6.5rev/min.

A range of complementary drive products are also available from MCS through Servotechnic along with a full range of smaller higher speed motors down to just over 25mm diameter.

Applications for the MCS frameless motors include high speed air bearing spindles, hybrid vehicles, underwater thrusters and telescope drives.
