Linear actuator adds antibacklash option

A Servotechnic product story

The Haydon size 8 hybrid linear actuator is now available with an optional antibacklash feature.

The Haydon size 8 hybrid linear actuator is now available with an optional antibacklash feature through UK agent Servotechnic.

The compact size of 21mm square makes this the world's smallest commercially available hybrid linear actuator.

These products typically replace four different components - a motor, coupling, lead screw and nut - thus reducing component count, cost and assembly times.

The latest addition to the product range - an optional antibacklash nut - means that the unit can now be offered as a zero-backlash product.

Preload can be preset to suit the application requirements and is achieved via a spring loaded device mounted to the rear shaft on the captive and noncaptive variants.

The size 8 linear hybrid actuators are available in a wide variety of resolutions ranging from 0.0015 to 0.04mm per full step and deliver thrust of up to 4.5kg without compromising long life or cost.

Windings are bipolar and include 2.5, 5 and 7.5V options.

Apart from standard catalogue items, Haydon is also able to offer customised lead screw lengths, coil terminations and external nuts to suit application requirements.

Applications requiring precise positioning and rapid motion are best suited for these actuators and include medical equipment, x-y tables, instrumentation, laboratory automation, valve control and many more.
