Rotary lobe pumps provides different levels of seal monitoring to suit the application.

SSP Pumps has introduced Atex certified rotary lobe pumps for use in potentially explosive atmospheres under Atex directive 94/9/EC Group II, Categories two and three, Gas and Dust To meet Atex compliance an important consideration for a rotary lobe pump is the primary seal

Here, the concern is for monitoring seal performance parameters, in particular the risk of mechanical seal faces becoming hot under certain conditions.

SSP Pumps provides different levels of monitoring to suit the application.

At the top of the range are pumps fitted with double flushed mechanical seals and sealant system including monitoring equipment to measure pressure, flow and temperature.

Other methods include pumps fitted with either single unflushed or double flushed mechanical seals with a thermocouple to measure temperature, suitable for customers to connect to their own monitoring instrumentation.

The thermocouple is embedded into the seal face ensuring accurate temperature differential monitoring.

Single mechanical seals without thermocouple may be supplied so that customers can make their own arrangement for monitoring to ensure seals do not run dry and the process temperature does not exceed the values for the defined application.

The pump seal specified would depend on pumped media and application.
