Fasteners get to grip with hubs
Fastening rotating components to shafts has become easier with the publication of the new 96-page "Handbook of Fairloc components, the integral fastener".
These versatile, lightweight 113g units, identified as the A 2Z23- (inch series) and A 2Z23M (metric series), come with twin hex nuts that simplify mounting the units onto panels.
These low-cost reducers employ crossed-helical gears that provide a wide range of eight output ratios.
The reducers are finding increased use in intermittent-duty applications where input motion by means of a control knob or gear is transmitted at right angles to the output shaft.
These reducers are also excellent for continuous, light-duty use where they can operate at speeds of about 1800rev/min.
These miniature 64 x 77 x 29.4mm units are easily mounted through a 14.3mm panel hole and secured with twin hex nuts.
Either right-handed or left-handed units may be ordered.
Gear ratios range from 1:1 (where they may be operated from either shaft acting as the output shaft) to 25:1, with power ratings ranging from 37 to 93W.
The units feature a black-anodised die-cast aluminium housing with hardened steel helical gears, steel shafts, threaded brass bushings and come complete with a grease fitting.
Input and output shaft diameters are 6mm.
Manual torque capacities for units up to 5:1 gear ratios are 3.2Nm, and above 5:1 gear ratios are 2.3Nm.
Availability is from stock.
